Los Angeles International airport has an impressive new luxury lounge, which was launched by Qantas this week.
The multi-million dollar business class lounge is a key addition to one of Qantas’ most important hubs.
The lounge is located on level 5 of LA international airport’s brand new terminal and it is shared with Cathay Pacific and British Airways customers.
Qantas International chief executive, Simon Hickey said the airline had received feedback from customers saying the old lounge was too small so the new terminal was a great opportunity.
There is stiff competition for Qantas with Virgin Australia, Delta Airlines and United Airlines on routes to the US and Hickey believes the lounge will enable Qantas to lead the market.
The area seats 400 people and is designed in a glamorous Californian style by Woods Bagot, with a fireplace as the distinct central piece.
Renowned Sydney chef Neil Perry has created new exciting menus for the lounge, based upon LA’s multicultural cuisine.
The lounge echoed the airline’s new attitude, to overseas markets, and the aim is to make a statement to passengers on all airlines, that Qantas cares for their customers.
Hickey said “this is a major step for us, cementing our position in that market.’’
