Qatar Airways has revealed that Paris will be the second destination for its new fleet of Airbus A380 aircraft.
The Doha-based airline will start taking delivery of its A380s this summer, with the first aircraft being deployed on the London Heathrow route from 17 June 2014. And Qatar Airways has now confirmed that its second A380 will commence operations to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport from 3 July.
“It is yet another significant moment for our airline as we welcome these new aircraft into our rapidly expanding fleet,” said Qatar Airways’ CEO, Akbar Al Baker.
“Operating on the Doha to Paris Charles De Gaulle route, these aircraft… will set a new level of comfort for our passengers, who will also benefit from the smooth and pleasant passenger experience at the world’s newest hub, Hamad International Airport.”
Qatar Airways has ordered 13 A380, and plans to configure than in a three-class layout with first, business and economy class cabins. The airline’s new base at Hamad International Airport in Doha will feature six gates designed especially for the A380.
The new A380s form part of a major fleet expansion plan for Qatar Airways; the airline is also set to welcome the first of 80 new A350 aircraft this year, and it has also ordered new Boeing 787 Dreamliner and B777-X aircraft.
